This article presents a pilot experience in distance training for professionals in education in the areas of gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, and racial relations resulting from the coordination of several ministries of the Brazilian Federal Government, the British Council and the Latin American Center for Sexuality and Human Rights of the State University of Rio de Janeiro. The course, was held between May and September 2006, and was aimed at elementary school teachers of the public school system. Its main purpose was to further the understanding of the dynamics of discrimination processes in the Brazilian society, especially racism, sexism, and homophobia, thus strengthening actions for fighting such discrimination.
