Abstract

Despite its frequent use in engineering, industry and commerce, Value of Information (VOI) Analysis is a recent development in health care research. In this chapter, we will discuss the techniques and mathematical basis of VOI Analysis. We will discuss how VOI Analysis can be used to evaluate future research and how it has the potential to inform and refine the design of future studies. Finally, we will discuss the challenges and limitations of this emerging field of research. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
