Abstract

The business strategy is essential to survive and achieve competitive advantages in the midst of a globalized context, characterized by high levels of communication and information. Knowledge management allows organizations to identify, capture, store, share and apply knowledge effectively to achieve their objectives and improve their performance, hence it becomes an increasingly important aspect in contemporary organizations. The objective was to describe knowledge management in higher education. A documentary study has been carried out, which consisted of a bibliographic review of various relevant authors in the matter of interest. Knowledge management represents fundamental challenges for higher education, while representing a great opportunity to improve educational quality and the performance of university organizations. Human resources and information become the pillars of knowledge, so it is essential to invest in the education and training of personnel and in the adoption of efficient information management systems.
