Abstract

(from the chapter) recent evidence has accumulated to document a clear relation between stressful experiences and depressive phenomena in children and adolescents / in examining research on stress and depression, it is important to attend to issues of specificity in the stress depression relation / a primary concern is in establishing whether and to what degree stress is associated with depressive phenomena / a 2nd question . . . is concerned with the degree to which any associations that are observed between stress and depression are unique to depression as opposed to reflecting a more general association between stress and psychopathology (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved) (chapter)
