Abstract

The effects of pretreatment and duration of low-temperature storage of runners on plantlet growth were examined in strawberry shoot apex culture. For pretreatment, the solutions (distilled water, Murashige and Skoog (MS) liquid medium without sucrose, 1/10 MS liquid medium without sucrose, or solutions of 30 g sucrose or 30 g glucose/litre) were absorbed by runners for 24 h at 20°C. Pretreatment solutions and duration of low-temperature storage of runners influenced the survival rate of shoot apex and plantlet growth. Following pretreatment with 1/10
