Abstract

In this complete bibliographic review, communicative pragmatic assessment tools used during clinical practice with Spanish speaking population were analyzed. It was carried out in order to characterize them, establish and compare the communicative and linguistic behaviors assessed and discuss their usefulness in clinical pragmatics. Twelve assessment tools are identified. A broad conception of pragmatics prevails that understands it as a perspective rather than as a language level and that is supported not only by pragmatic studies in the strict sense, but also by discourse analysis, conversational analysis and studies on non-verbal communication. Most of the tools analyzed correspond to checklists focused on the assessment of interactive pragmatics. Information on psychometric variables is scarce. It is concluded that it seems necessary to develop formal tools with established psychometric properties that allow to accurately determine pragmatic ability impairments, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
