Abstract

This paper discusses the application of Real coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA) in fractional order PI controller design for speed control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM). Real coded Genetic Algorithm used for finding the optimal fractional order PI controller parameters by minimizing the performance index such as Integral Absolute Error (IAE) of speed in IPMSM. The performance of the RGA based fractional order PI controller is compared with the RGA based integer order PI controller. The simulation results demonstrated that the RGA based fractional order PI controller performance is better than RGA based Integer order PI controller.
