Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of how augmented reality can improve the visualisation of architectural designs. An overview of wearable computer technologies and augmented reality is provided for a better understanding of the technology. The Wearable Computer Laboratory's Tinmith wearable outdoor augmented reality backpack system is described to reveal the current state of the art in this form of technology. The key contribution of this chapter is an explanation of how the user of a wearable augmented reality computer system can facilitate the architectural design process. © 2009 Springer Netherlands.
