An overview of the recent role of solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in the field of supramolecular chemistry to probe host-guest interactions is provided. Over the last few years, solid state NMR methodologies have delivered unique insights into the atomic level structure and dynamics of guest molecules adsorbed in solid materials that are not available by other approaches. ThisHighlightdiscusses the range of NMR interactions that enable access to this information and provides a number of illustrating examples that highlight their applications in a wide range of chemical systems and porous materials covering metal organic frameworks, porous molecular solids and zeolites.
