Dos textos y un proyecto. La pertinencia de la teoría posmoderna en la obra de Juvenal Baracco

Abstract

This paper aims to check postmodern theories spread in Peru against an architectural project. The Juvenal Baracco’s Peruvian Air Force Officer Training School (1981-1984) was chosen as study case because it is a representative —and barely known— example of the postmodern thought in the early 80’s. The school’s original proposal —including buildings and details not performed in the work— was taken as a reference to explain the criticism to modernity with an architecture that puts aside historicisms and folklorisms but establishes complex relationships in its composition through a process of abstraction, imagination and reinterpretation of Lima’s spatial typology.
