Abstract

This study is part of a larger project called Smart Campus Ecosystem (SCE), which is being developed at Institución Universitaria Antonio José Camacho (UNIAJC). The SCE aims to tackle problems in different areas of the university, such as slow and obsolete academic and administrative processes, infrastructure, environmental impacts and bad use of resources (natural and technological). As a contribution to the SCE, in this study, we present the development of a platform to support services through computers and mobile devices that will be consumed by all community that is part of the university. The platform is based on the use of the principles provided by SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), as a framework in the design and development of information systems for the university towards to become a Smart Campus. The results of the development of a practical case are presented, implementing the standards and the philosophy that this architecture provides and how it works through the development of two mobile client apps for Android devices.
