Reports the deliberations of the workshop panel concerned with climate and sea level changes. The panel of 14 participants contributed 11 expert presentations which are published in this volume. The group's findings are divided into technical recommendations directed at sea level research workers and strategic recommendations which require the creation and operation of research programmes of groups of scientists and by the various agencies. These pairs of recommendations are arranged under the following headings: 1) Mesurements of sea level changes over long time scales; 2) Measurement of recent and future sea level changes; 3) Approaches to modelling future sea level change. The chapter ends with a conservative statement of concensus on sea level rise for the period 1987-2027. This gives a figure of 13±4cm over the next 40 yrs. For the next 100 yrs a total rise of 61 cm is forecast. -K.Clayton
