This article aimed at identifying the opinion of nurses' teachers about spirituality and spiritual assistance within their education program, as well as its presence in courses and their suggestions about spiritual aspects to be included. 24 teachers were interviewed during November 1994; 95.8% of them thought the human being to be a spiritual being, mentioning ways this dimension alters and influences daily life; 66.6% of the teachers thought about the importance to include spiritual assistance within their educational program. In the light of the variety of answers the authors emphasize the importance to reflect about this subject.
