Abstract

This chapter is a synthetic presentation of the research results of an analysis of Polish and Czech school textbooks on the construction of the nation and gender. These studies were conducted using critical discourse analysis. The main objective was to verify whether and to what extent young people’s education in Poland and the Czech Republic takes into account the transformation of the contemporary world, including globalization, multiculturalism, the primacy of individual rights over group rights, the emancipation of women, the disabled, LGBT people, and other previously marginalized social groups.
