Abstract

Phenelzine was administered to 11 patients meeting DSM-III criteria for social phobia in open clinical trials. Seven of 11 showed marked improvement, while the remaining four experienced moderate benefit. These findings, which require replication in controlled trials, suggest that in addition to other actions, phenelzine has a direct effect in reducing interpersonal hypersensitivity. © 1986 by Williams and Wilkins Co.
