Abstract

In the current work, guidelines are presented for the implementation of multimedia/hypermedia systems with the goal of fostering ecology and cultural heritage in natural and/or rural areas. The content of these systems has three elements which are interrelated in a triadic relation: simplicity, originality and universality. Additionally, in elements of the categories navigation and structure are preferred by those users who inhabit rural areas. An analysis of the guided tour component is carried out in a comprehensive way in two design categories: navigation and structure. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
