Abstract

This paper presents a literature review on enterprise architecture principles. The results show that there are various gaps in the research literature: No accepted definition of enterprise architecture principles has emerged yet. A detailed conceptual framework is still lacking. Business principles, IT principles and enterprise architecture principles are often mixed up. Research into generic design principles is still in its infancy. Our review illustrates the necessity to conduct more research on enterprise architecture principles. We describe conceptual foundations and provide guidance for further research in this field. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
