Abstract

The main objective of this research is to identify the information needs and information behavior of users of geographic information systems or geousers belonging to communities of the social network Facebook. From both qualitative and quantitative methods, it is recog-nized that this segment of geousers have technological competences and skills for searching, retrieving geographic information and interacting with systems; how-ever, it is detected that among the main needs are the knowledge of geographic information sources and GIS training, aspects that open the possibility for libraries and other information units to offer potential services related to geoinformation.
