Abstract

Concerning the food problem that could pose a hazard during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) issued a warning. Indonesia and Vietnam are two nations that are attempting to act quickly and appropriately to avert a food crisis. The objective of this study is to compare and contrast the food security measures that the governments of Vietnam and Indonesia adopted during the Covid-19 outbreak. The findings of this study show that there are disparities between the approaches taken by the governments of Vietnam and Indonesia to this issue, which is brought on by the different political structures and circumstances in each nation. In order to prevent food crises by preserving food price stability, the Indonesian government developed numerous new regulations. In order to prevent food crises, the Indonesian government created a number of new policies, including ones that encourage small farmers, increase crop production, and create food estates. The food security strategy in Vietnam exempts farmers from agricultural taxes, waives the cost of irrigation, and reduces post-harvest losses by paying loan interest. In contrast to Vietnam, where the government effectively implements current policies and is hereditary in nature, Indonesia develops new policies by modifying the circumstances that exist. This results in long-term effects for the Vietnams government.
