Abstract

An efficient smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method for duct conveying is proposed. We have implemented a 3D SPH code for duct conveying, which extends industrial application field of SPH method. The simulation results of 3D SPH accord with the experimental results. Numerical simulation results show that major physics of the duct conveying can be well captured in the simulation. The SPH method proposed can be easily extended to deal with many other problems of duct flow if simulation control parameters such as input condition, boundary condition and corresponding equation of state etc. are defined properly. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
