Western studies today have been discussed in many areas of forensic pathology, forensic serology, forensic entomology, forensic anthropology and forensic odontology. However, there has been a forensic debate in the book of jurisprudence since the early Islamic era. This has been proven, as mentioned in the Quran, hadith and the story of the companions which contain the history and the elements that could be related to forensic study. However, the discussions on the basics of forensics in Islam have not yet been explored in detail. The aim of this study is therefore to examine the basics of forensics in Islam by observing the history and elements that could be related to the forensic study. The methodology used in this study for data collection is document analysis and the data is then analysed inductively and deductively. The results of the study found that the basis of forensics in Islam can be seen on the basis of the history and elements that could be associated with the forensic study in Islam, namely the detection of traces or remnants of crime, the identification of blood effects, the detection of odours, the recognition of footprints and the identification of sperm. This study has implications for scholars who have conducted research to give exposure to the society about the existence and development of forensic knowledge in Islam.
