Abstract

Electronic-paper (e-Paper) displays use reflective technology to create images and need no power to hold images because of their bistability nature. It definitely has the advantages of lightweight, high portability, extremely low power consumption, friendly readability under various lighting condition, and wider viewing angle compared with cathode-ray tubes or liquid-crystal displays. Therefore, there is an increasing number of applications of e-Paper displays on the market nowadays, such as e-Book readers, electronic shelf labels, e-Signage, and wearable devices. In this article, suitable measurement methods are proposed to evaluate the optical performance of e-Paper displays.
