Abstract

Objective: to know the satisfaction and perception of patients with the electronic prescription system. Methods: a cross-sectional study was performed on 290 patients who answered the PERSA-RE questionnaire. The patients' sociodemographic variables and information on their adherence were collected through the Morisky Green Levine questionnaire. Differences in questionnaire scores were analyzed according to sociodemographic variables and patient adherence. Results: the average total score of the questionnaire was 63.42 (SD 7.02) out of a total score of 85. The highest valued attribute of the questionnaire was “Satisfaction” with a score of 4.32, with patients showing their preference for the electronic prescription versus the paper prescription. 96% of patients stated that they could collect their medication without problems with the health card. The lowest valued attribute was “Understanding”, which scored 3.45. Younger patients scored the attributes “Satisfaction” and “Expense” higher. 70% of patients said they “strongly disagree” or “disagree” with the statement that the electronic prescription system has increased their spending on medications. Compliant patients according to the Morisky Green Levine presented a greater understanding of the electronic prescription system Conclusion: electronic prescription users have a high degree of satisfaction with this prescription and dispensing system. Educational level, age and adherence were the variables with the greatest influence on the questionnaire score.
