Abstract

The aim of this paper is to create a conceptual debate about memory as a principal motivation for urban architectonic conservation and restoration at the academic level. The testimony object of memory is studied in two stages: urban and architectonic. Beginning with historic memory analysis as a prime motivator, a search has been undertaken to conserve the testimony object taking into account the inherent message, while proposing fundaments which justify the copy and the cloning; both concepts being at odds with the tradition of conserving the authentic and the original. The main idea is to provide alternatives and contemporary parameters for new restorers and peoples interested in heritage conservation.
