Abstract

The aim of this paper is to create a conceptual debate about memory as a principal motivation for urban architectonic conservation and restoration at the academic level. The testimony object of memory is studied in two stages: urban and architectonic. Beginning with historic memory analysis as a prime motivator, a search has been undertaken to conserve the testimony object taking into account the inherent message, while proposing fundaments which justify the copy and the cloning; both concepts being at odds with the tradition of conserving the authentic and the original.
