Abstract

• Pyodermal infections of the scalp may be primary or secondary to pruritic conditions; epidermal or adnexial; superficial or deep. • Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococci are the most important causative agents, Gram-negative bacteria are rarely involved. • Impetigo of the scalp is a frequent complication of pediculosis capitis and seborrheic dermatitis. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
