Abstract

Vasculitis (vessel inflammation) refers to several diseases with different causes. According to the Chapel Hill International Consensus, it is possible to identify primary vasculitis and vasculitis secondary to infective processes or rheumatoid diseases; based on the caliber of the vessel involved, cases of primary vasculitis are divided into large inflammatory arteritis (LIA), medium inflammatory arteritis and small vessel inflammatory arteritis (Fig. 16.1).
