Abstract

This paper is aimed at monitoring the driver using the data collected by the smart phone camera and the sensor(s) installed in the vehicle. It is assumed that the smartphone camera tracks the driver’s face. The monitoring system collects all the information from the smartphone as well as data from the vehicle’s sensors pertaining to dangerous situations. Here, authors present a driver monitoring cloud description and a case study based on the driver’s behavior under different scenarios for the proposed monitoring system. For this case study, the problem of head angle calibration is considered. Such angle calibration automates the manual calibration procedure that driver has to perform when the environment in the car is changed.
