Abstract

This chapter details both historic and current applications of dogs in water search for SAR/cadaver/human forensics, with crossover into terrestrial and conservation detection work (e.g., invasive plants and mussels). Key elements of the aquatic environment are identified along with a description of how water search is conducted with a dog, target scents, scent transfer, and types of water search (shoreline, dock, and from a boat).
