Anaesthetic management of infants undergoing profound hypothermia for surgical correction of congenital heart defects

Abstract

A combination of surface and bypass cooling has been utilised to induce profound hypothermia for the correction of congenital heart defects in a series of twenty-five infants. The anaesthetic management of these cases is described and discussed. © 1974 Canadian Anesthesiologists.
