Abstract

Before we begin our discussion, I would like to point out the differences between what is considered classic R&D and production R&D. In the f/x production world, Blue Sky results are clearly desired, as the techniques that are novel and groundbreaking this year are passé the next. The motion capture industry operates in much the same way, leading to the expression "mochismo," which combines motion capture with machismo. © Springer-Verlag London Limited 2008.
