It is demonstrated on the example of one-dimensional elastic pulse prop-agation that predictions of the Mindlin micromorphic theory may be inefficient if the size of inhomogeneity is comparable with the pulse length. This means that the Mindlin microelasticity is still an approximation of the description of the behavior of materials, which is satisfactory only for long wavelengths or for small size of inhomogeneities.
