Carrot is one of the most popular vegetables with various benefits. Demand to high quality carrot has rapidly increased in recent years. Local variety of carrot named Sibayak has many superior traits with some unacceptable traits for modern market. In order to develop high quality carrot, selection method have been performed. In the selection process, many traits have to be confirmed for effective selection. By using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) number of traits will be reduced. The objective of the present work was to collect information the important characters of local variety of Sibayak based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA). PCA found that four Principal Component (PC) could explain variation of local variety Sibayak population. The four PCs consisted of root length, root weight, root type, toot tip diameter and root color. The four PCs could explain 72.376% of cumulative variation of local variety Sibayak population. It was been concluded that the effectiveness selection could be reach by selection of root length, root weight, root type, toot tip diameter and root color.
