Abstract

Vestibular function tests include tests of two main systems, vestibulospinal and vestibulo-oculomotor systems. Righting reflex and deviation of the extremities are routinely examined by vestibulo-spinal system test. Functions of the vestibulo-oculomotor system are examined by positional and positioning nystagmus tests, optokinetic nystagmus and eye tracking tests, all of which greatly contribute to differential diagnosis of vertigo of the peripheral and central lesions. © 1986, The Society of Practical Otolaryngology.
