Abstract

According to North American statistics, the prevalence of mental disorders annually among adults ranges from 12% (Statistics Canada) to 26% (Kessler et al. 2005). In contrast to rates of mental disorders among adults, which remain stable over time, rates of emotional disturbance and conduct problems among adolescents, our future work force, demonstrated alarming increases between 1974 and 1999 (Collishaw et al. 2004). © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
