Abstract

This paper relies on new institutional economic approaches which highlight the importance of institutional cooperation as a necessary condition for better market mechanisms to examine the case of CEMAC zone. On the basis of this idea, the paper demonstrates on the one hand that, in spite of real advantages of the single currency, the former model of cooperation didn't achieve the expected results in the CEMAC zone. On the other hand, the paper finds that the new model of cooperation gives hope for good results in the area under consideration. However, the expected results are not sustained and are very fragile due to the existence of national scepticism, permanent conflicts and finally the difficulties of securing necessary funding for productive activities.
