TO THE OUTER PLANETS

Abstract

This article discusses the possibilities of multi-planet trajectories designed to take advantage of the rare alignment in heliocentric geometry during the 1976-80 period. Also discussed is the utility of solar-electric propulsion systems designed to conform with launch capabilities of the Titan IIIC. Spacecraft designs applicable to the ballistic-mission requirements are based on previous space program experience, but will require significant sophistication.
