Abstract

This study discusses the emergence of a social movement based on farmer independence in Piondo, Central Sulawesi. The movement emerged as a response to the conflict between farmers and PT Kurnia Luwuk Sejati (KLS) and PT Berkat Hutan Pusaka (BHP). The data search was carried out qualitatively with the case study method. The stages of the movement that emerged were read from the perspective of Sidney Tarrow where there were five stages carried out by farmers. Analysis with the survival mechanism perspective of James Scott shows that during the struggle for land acquisition, farmers must reduce the quality of their food, make independent efforts to find additional income, so that a network is formed for them to survive and regain their agricultural land.
