This paper gives an account of the floristic status of grasses which occur in the South Luangwa National Park and the Lupande Game Management Area. In the study area a total of 189 species of grasses belonging to 12 tribes has been recorded. In terms of species number the tribes Andropogoneae, Eragrostideae and Paniceae are the largest
