Abstract

Scientific publications have been gradually changing and innovating, offering new possibilities to access scientific content, such as visual and interactive features. This paper provides a discussion, contextualization and improvements of scientific publishing within a case study that presents a user interface design based on a cognitive framework. The study combined usability methods to evaluate the application of the cognitive framework in an interactive prototype. The user evaluation centered on usability, think-aloud, a questionnaire as well as an expert reviewer evaluation. The paper concludes with considerations to guide practices for interactive multimedia publishing design.
