Abstract

The unveiling of neocortical short-time circuits to detect specific formant associations in Speech Processing is reviewed. The use of these specific structures to capture and parse dynamic changes taking place in the syllabic structure of speech is also presented. Results from computer simulations supporting physiological evidence are presented. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
