Abstract

A great deal of research has gone into the specification of policies and protocols for the management of networks. The benefits of this new paradigm are beyond any doubts. This paper looks at the challenge of building such platforms that automate all the steps starting at the specification and going all the way to enforcing policies in QoS network. First a policy language is defined, next we present a policy parser and show how policies are mapped onto the underlying network mechanisms. A number of case studies are illustrated in order to validate these ideas. © 2003 by Springer Science+Business Media New York.
