Technology has had a great impact in daily life, and also in medicine. In rehabilitation, it has been introduced for assistance of disabilities, improve adherence to therapies, etc. There is a gap in the needs of these devices and the access to them, and one of the issues is that there are few trained personnel. This narrative review focuses on some definitions of robotics, wearable technology and virtual reality, with the aim of providing the reader of basic knowledge to understand further research in the area. Some examples of applications of technology in stroke, spinal cord injury and brain injury are summarized.
