Parkinsons disease (PD) is a widespread and disabling neurodegenerative disorder that results from the loss of the dopaminergic innervation of the striatum 1. Dopamine (DA) depletion triggers an array of biochemical and structural adaptations, some of which are compensatory but others of which appear maladaptive.
