Abstract

The last few years have seen a rapid growth in on-line world systems that allow a number of remote users to share a cooperative environment. These systems have essentially been considered as leisure environments allowing users to chat remotely. Little consideration has been given to the development of virtual worlds to support cooperative work. In this paper, we wish to consider the development of an environment to support synchronous and asynchronous collaboration that is directly informed from the real world. © 1998 ACM.
