In this paper I present results of three ethnographic research experiences in collaboration with children developed in 2004, 2005 and 2010 in Argentina. I focus on the different constructions and appropriations of places and urban spaces developed by children - in this case of popular neighborhoods - through their verbal, body and gesture languages and through reflexive interpretations. By incorporating the perspective of children, I could realize that the space operated as an organizer which expanded the analytical possibilities of differences and allowed to describe aspects of neighborhood's life avoiding stereotyped categories such as "periphery" or "suburb", "marginality" or "exclusion".
