The professionals of the relation of assistance practicing in the psychiatric field, social field, legal field of child welfare, or practicing in special structures for disabled children or adults are almost always confronted with a paradoxical situation. Indeed their professional mission, their mandate or the one of their service enjoin them to propose a « constrained help » to people who have not requested this assistance and even who refuses it with vehemence. How is it possible to resort to the constrained help and even to the therapeutic injunction while respecting the patient, his/her family and kin? In this article we will detail several contexts of intervention resulting from the systemic family approach which make possible to answer these questions. © De Boeck Université.
