Abstract

Ultrasound is an emergent imaging modality that is widely used to assess disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system. Among its many features, it is the only imaging modality that is able to perform dynamic evaluations of the soft tissues related to the musculoskeletal system, and without patient exposure to ionizing radiation. Also, in expert hands, ultrasound enables the precise guidance of needles within soft tissues and joints, for use in a wide range of procedures.
