Abstract

The fourth part of the catalog of Neotropical Lepidoptera lists all species from Mexico to Patagonia in the families Thyatiridae, Eupterotidae, Apatelodidae, Bombycidae [introduced], Mimallonidae, Lasiocampidae, Oxytenidae, Cercophanidae, Satumiidae, and Sphingidae. A total of 2,488 valid species are cataloged. The bibliography cites over 1,200 papers dealing with the Neotropical fauna for the families treated, including virtually all the original descriptions to all names of species and genera. The species index lists 4,680 names, including all synonyms and 7 excluded species. The generic index lists 605 generic and higher category names. There are 3 new species names proposed to replace homonyms in Lasiocampidae.
