Method of license plate location based on license plate texture and HSV color space

Abstract

License plate location technology is the first step of license plate recognition technique, and also is the very crucial step, its location performance directly relate to the license plate recognition system rate, and also affect the speed of recognition system. At the same time it is a classic problem. There are many difficulties in the process of license plate location, because of Chinese vehicle license color and format diversification; the uncertainness of hanging position; severe license fouling; light and environmental factors and so on. For these reasons, although many teams have developed the related products, yet the result is unsatisfactory in practical application. © 2012 Springer-Verlag London Limited.
