Abstract

In this paper the integrated problem of environmental, socioeconomic and public health security in independent Ukraine is analyzed and the new vision of sustainable development oriented on integrated human development (intellectual, physical, spiritual and social) is proposed. The integrated characteristic of human health (longevity, sickness rate, intellectual and physical capacity) is considered as the major indicator of sustainable development and specific policy tools (education, ecotaxation, green accounting) are suggested to approach it. © 2008 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
